Yeah actually his story is inspiring.
At his time the xabashis used to take Jizya from the Muslims states of Adal. He decided to default and the Xabashis organised an army to punish him and thus 200,000 Xabashi soilders marched to Zeilac.

Axmed Organised 30,000 soilders and boosted their moral as he was afraid they might disintegrate and flee the battle ground once they saw the large amount of Abysinian soilders.
