With Eritreans it seems their diaspora and the actual people living in Eritrea have two different mindsets. The latter are still stuck in the early 90's independence era mindset, while the former seem more focused on contemporary issues facing their country. I won't deny that Afwerki is popular at home, but the diasporans are almost cult like supporters of the guy

That being said Eritreans have a sense of nationalism that has never developed in Somalia. The distinctions and conflicts they have are between another country as opposed to themselves.

Jaidi, I'll have to respectfully disagree with you...I was at the meeting with Pres. Issayas and his top delegates and therevwas a strong presence of recent arrivals and long term disaporan's that attended.

There are some back home who have some challenges but an overwhelming majority knows the govt. is putting its best foot fwd. There is no quick fix to alleviating African problems, so the govt takes a slower but meticulous approach to development. Basically relying on it human capital, in the long run this will pay off dividends. We are already being recognized in abolishing many diseases that plague African countries, our economy is skyrocketing. Utimately, people both in and out the country know that in order to become successful there will some growing pains along the way so patience is a valuable virtue.
