lol waxbaa ha igu qoslin, dhiigi boqol iyo kontar ayu shalaytoole gaadhay...anyway ka bood, judging by the majority of your previous posts I’d say you are amongst those men who'd use their gender and position only to physcologically abuse their wives..waxaa kugu fiican mid saliida ku qiyaasta..

Anyway ruunti when looking at it from a cultural/religious relative importance I’d say the girls in Somalia have it a lot easier growing up in a Muslim country where daqan is practised everyday. Attending a school with non Muslim students who end up being your peers and having some sort of influence on you isn’t so trouble-free, living in an atmosphere where almost everything you stand for and believe in is ridiculed and seen as ‘not cool’, living in a place where trying to maintain your modesty by wearing a hijab/jilbaab in the land of the kuffar is not only a fearsome challenge that can be a huge test to your iman but it can also sometimes put you in awkward compromising positions that you shouldn’t have to face (e.g applying for a particular job role), a place where khamri, sex and drugs are continuously being promoted, a place where the beautiful, supreme religion of Islam is mocked, a place where it’s so easy to forget about who you really are and where you’re from..so if after all those unyideling trials you have virtuous girls who are still intact with their culture and deen whilst growing up and living in the so called land of the free...then I say Alhamdulila and Mash’Allah..

And I believe deep down inside...you wish you had a girl like that... ;)

Twist, La-li who? :?

Walaal, you make some good points (not that I agree with all of them) but nonetheless good. It is always tough as you indicated for people to move homes. There are always challenges as each country has its own distinctive institutions. Some of us embrace the systems we end up in without analysing the underlying foundations while others embrace just some parts of them. The family structure of our people has come under enormous challenge and the roles of the husband, wife and child have changed. The father as the bread provider/winner and the mother as the nexus of nurture is gone. Marriage as an institution with significant roles for the parties too. What you have is a marriage of inconviniences; sometimes it is sheer peer/ pressure.

From a male perspective, I could argue that our role and our spheres of power have diminished. When we ended up in welfare countries, the role of the male is reduced to that one of a bystander; of course, you could argue that it is about the emancipation of women. We have become mentally castrated since we feel powerless at times. Changes are important but they should be incremental. What we are witnessing is radical transformation of our society; gone are the days of compromises; xaawalay will call police.

We are reduced to being sperm donors and the price for this is not only the lose of our manhood (read pride) but also economic burden (child support).
