Somalia's GDP per capita never passed the $200 range, compared to Libya that had a per capita GDP of around $30,000 in the 1980s! One of Libya's projects, a "man-made" river, cost $25 billion so far and isn't even completed yet. That's more money than Somalia's entire earnings throughout this century.
