I posted this a while back and got no responses, so here it is again:

This is a bit random and slightly weird, but has anybody thought of maybe exhuming the body of the Sheikh for DNA testing? I know it sounds bizarre and sort of un-islamic, but I think knowing whether or not these old origin stories hold any validity is extremely important in a place like Somalia/Somaliland where people have been murdering each other over what I consider myths since time immemorial. btw before anybody accuses me of qabyaalad, I think the same should be done for Daarood, Hawiye, or whatever ancestor.

It would certainly destroy the Somali worldview if they found out those stories about some dude from Yemen/Iraq/wherever hiding in a tree was some allegorical story I'm sure I'm going to get the usual responses of, "I know where I come from you (insert.slur)", but what do you all think?
