Female Scholars in Al Maghrib

I just got an email from al maghrib about a class on female scholars taught by male scholars. Damn sistas, we can't even teach people about ourselves due to the fitna we could cause

Layla bint ‘Abd Allah [known as Ash-Shifaa] was requested by the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam to teach women the Qur’aan
Nafisa bint al-Hasan taught hadeeth to Imam ash-Shafi'ee.
Umm ud-Dardaa’ was a sahabiyyat, scholar and teacher of Damascus
Ibn Hajar al-Askhalani states that he studied with 53 women.

i'm not surprised though, al maghrib goers i know are intense when it comes to women. I used to be pres of my msa and a group of them stood up in a meeting to ask that i get a male to start facilitating the meetings for me cuz i was too much of a fitna

this reminds me of a recent islamic talk show episode with one of the saudi permanant committe for fatwa member where the presenter asked him.is it possible that a female or a shia scholar be added to the committee in the near future,and the good sheikh was quite for a sec abviously he was trying to decide which one he dislikes more.the idea of having a shia or a woman in the committee.

Its not so much of the 'fitna' we cause its more of who is willing to dedicate her entire life to studying Islam, becoming a muslim(ah) scholar. Aisha RadiAllahu Anha is one great proof that a woman can become a scholar and be far more learned than man and not just that but she can also teach men. We don't have many women who devote themselves to the study and spreading of the deen whilst keeping their haya/hijab/and islamic islamic etiquette.

lol @ too much fitna, how do they go about their day? Do they walk with their eyes glued to the ground? Do they not look at their female professors? Do they wear really big ear muffs so they can't hear random woman on the street? guys who say that are the most frustrated people in the world so sad they come from our community
