There is something paradoxical about Eastleigh; dirt and money live side by side

Do people from NFD actually feel Kenyan? Do the Somalis in Nairobi or whatever feel in any way connected to Somalia?

The reason I ask this is because most sijus I know feel strongly about Kenya, and defend it whenever I crack jokes. Personally, I don't get it since there was no such thing as Kenya or a Kenyan before 1963 (two generations or so), nor did the Somalis in NFD want to be part of Kenya. Most argue that they and their parents have lived in Kenya all their lives, but most of their parents were born before there was such a thing. I've lived the vast majority of my life in the U.S., but I really don't "feel" American nor do I care if somebody makes fun of Americans tbh. My loyalties lie with places and peoples I have never seen or met (kind of odd when I write it like that  ).

What about you?
