Within the first week, KDF had gone 100KM into Somali territory. How long did it take for Amisom with 10,000 troops take to chase Al-shabaab from Mogadishu? I don't think it is right for the KDF to try to outshine the Ethiopian army so that it can reach Kismayu in a matter of weeks. There is no need to rush to Kismayu only to have villages left behind with Al-shbaab terrorists still inside. Right now, they are busy seeking to pacify the areas that have already been liberated.
Don't you think that would make Somali Unite more?? what happens if al shabab throw their garments out and shaved their beards then reshuffle their organisation and called it the Somali Liberation Army??? No more al shabab. Kenyans Foriegn Policy is run from washington Not naiorbi.
MidriGeez, i know that you probably don't care to know the truth, but you need to keep in mind that Kenya is NOT Ethiopia and they have very different foreign and military policies. Do you remember the 2006 intervention by Ethiopia? At that time Sheikh Sharif was in the Union of Islamic courts and he had nowhere to run; who took him in? Who paid for his hotel bills in Nairobi? Was it not the Kenyan government? It was the Kenyan government that ensured his safe passage to exile. This was even after the UIC had indicated a desire for a Greater Somali. If the Shabaab decide to change their name to SLA as you call it; it won't really matter, so long as they have the policy towards Kenya, the reaction from Nairobi will remain the same.
Again, Kenya is not afraid of a United Somali. If Somalis want to be governed by al-shabaab and be suject to constant suicide bombing and public executions, that's their problem. After all, it will only help close down the Daada refugee camp which every one of us is looking forward to its closing. They just shouldn't bring their murders to my country.
I agree with you..Kenya Never felt threatened By Strong somalia and even refused to go to somalia for years even when it was pressured By America and ethiopia to get involved. they refused...But many don't understand that al shabab is run by America indirectly, so few Bombs here and there and few kidnapping and they pressured kenya into getting involved, Just like what they did in uganda and uganda ended up getting fully involved the next day. That is what they do If your country refuse to interfere then they set up few bombing in your country and blame it on al shabab and tell you are now involved and force you to join, That is why Eritrea rejected al shabab because they know its a cia organisation, and that is why they supported officially the kenyans invasion to remove alshabab indirectly saying you get rid of CIA organisation, when alshabab threatened to attack Eritrea the eritrean minister turned around told them " It's not your call unless washington approves it" why do you think Eritrea + Sudan + Egypt has signed a Military alliance agreement lately, the game is over everyone knows who is who. Kenya is getting forced into somalia, But kenya is also has to go through a somalia soon, Too many Muslims in Kenya and that is a problem for the future agenda, so the muslim Voices has to be weaken there.
