I found this edifying BBC series on Lost Kingdoms of Africa. I just finished watching the Nubia episode but tell me if you guys learned anything new. Reflecting on the documentary made me realize that I know so little of African history even though on average I know more than the average African. Why do you think we Africans know so little of our own history?

It is still the white mans perspective on history you get to see. Holla when Africans tell their own history.

Vey few Africans have the capacity to write theri own story. I don't know where you went to school, but in my primary days, i was never taught the way history should be taught. It was all about rote memorization, and of course the curriculum was designed by the new African elite who wrote history in a way that will view them as heros.
In addition to this, african generally don't have the patience that such kind of research demands. I never know why.
