I think its placed there on purpose near to the presidential palace. If i were to make sense of it i'll say its for security reasons. Its easy escape for the president and his family incase things get out of hand.
How common is this practice across the world? Heathrow is pretty far from Central London.

Also, was security that much of an issue when it was built that the president had to be shuttled quickly to villa somalia?

KOw...do you wish to be a pilot?
The air ports in the west have underground tunnels which could provide escape route incase such a thing happened. Like the white house of U.S, they have underground tunnels and fully operational train.

you are comparing developed countries that have many options to under/undeveloped countries that cannot afford what they need and are
on budget.

KOA,

I once flew on an Antonov whose engines stalled midair. I never prayed so hard. Another one decided to leak jet fuel shortly after take off. The one that took the cake was hydraulic failure on a Bombardier, we turned back to Nairobi nearly 45 minutes into the flight over the town of Mandera.

Nice landing at the airport. Abdiwahab garowe and bosaso airport might not be the best today but in the future it will be when ours is brand spanking new while yours is debiliatating and old.

Bossaso and garowe airport are still being built give us time but believe me they will be calaami. Bosaso only has runway left to pave which will cost $2 million and adde muse was putting aside 1.5% of the bosaso port revenue for it, the funds have been required a long time ago its just gone missing in someone pockets.

But dont worry dude it will be international airports with runway and terminal and also all the amneties that go with it. Were building our airports you inherited yours from siyad barre

Accident,

The man is bitter. IN his mind, the Mogadishu airport belongs to Hawiyes, Berbera to Issaq etc etc. He doesn't view them as Somali airports.

I dont view them as my airports. Thats why I built my own, xataa transitka berbera la marayo ayaaba ii dhibayso I created punt air from addis to garowe-galkayo-bosaso and other connections are happening from dubai and nairobi. So when I go to puntland I want to fly str8 from Dubai to Bosaso-Garowe-Galkayo.

Saxib,

Puntair is not going to be successful if it limits itself as a Puntland service. There market is very limited. Look at Jubba Airways, the Mogadishu owned airline which makes a ton of money servicing Mogadishu, Berbera, Bosaso, Galkayo, and Hargeisa.
