REVOLT AGAINST UNJUST GOVERMENT IS A JUST REVOLUTION!

ETHIOPIA INTRUSION ON SOMALIA INTERNAL AFFAIRS

It has been almost two-decade since the civil war broke in Somalia. Two decades of carnage and massacre is still unabated, thousands of Somalis most of whom are women and children have perished amidst the tribal and political wrangling that follows after Siyat barre regime was ousted 1n 1991.

The lack of a centralized government in Somalia has attracted Ethiopia this is due to the fact that Somalia is seen by Ethiopia as are potential threat. Should peace prevail in Somalia and a centralized government be establish, Ethiopia knows that Somalis have not yet lost the aspiration to reclaim the Ogaden province which was unlawfully annex by Ethiopians with help of western nations and the fact that Somalis shared Islam with Oromo people as their main faith, this and also the fact that Oromo people have been oppressed for years now and are majority in Ethiopia, all this facts when combine together spells to Mr. Zenawi an impending revolts by the Oromo to overthrow the Christian government of Ethiopia that has brutally prosecute them for years.

Mr. Zenawi has sort to encounter the potential impending revolt by the Oromo and the Somalis in Ethiopia by ensuring that peace never prevail in Somalia, Ethiopia is known in many cases to sabotage numerous peace conferences design to heal the political and tribal wounds that has render Somalis stateless and established a central authority that represent all Somalis of all tribe and dialects.

They have able to achieve this by luring, indulging and continuously arming different tribal leaders who are open to Ethiopia influence, command and are loyal to Mr. Zenawi regime, most of this tribal or factions leaders are illiterates by nature and ruthless by practice when combine together they represent a powerful chunk of political and tribal force in Reconciliation peace process they have the ability to make or break any peace proposal.

By acquiring the trust and loyalty of these mentally ill individuals the Ethiopians have ensured Somalia will never emerge from the civil war, chaos and tribal cleansing that has been the hallmark of the nation since the demise of the Siyat barre regime in 1991.

Under the Mr. Zenawi’s political input human right abuse has become widespread in Somalia as different tribal factions that are loyal to him battle for supremacy in different areas of Somalia, fighting to influence and dominates other’s landscape politically through the used of overwhelm force which often is unleashed towards the innocents inhabitant of Mogadishu among other areas.

Ethiopia political input in Somalia has established an environment conducive to dispute and bloodshed, thus insuring the survival of Zenawi regime. Ethiopia has also used the dreadful September 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington DC in America to further destabilizing Somalia by linking it to terrorism organization such as al Qaida among others although the entire allegation made has categorically been denied by United nation, America institute of foreign affair among other respected political institutions.

Its highly unlikely Ethiopia will stop mingling with Somalia’s internal affairs, the only way to exclude Ethiopia from Somalia internal affairs is to denied them the avenue to assert political influence, and that means eliminating those factional leaders who have render their tribes support to the Ethiopia causes and are sympathetic to Zenawi’s political plan for Somalia.

We all know that African is unfortunately a continent ravage by civil wars and no country can be said to be immune from it. The political situation in the Ethiopia currently favors or is conducive in my view to a political revolt (the recent protest in the capital that resulted in death of innocent student clearly supports my views) that may lead Ethiopia to where Somalia is today.

The economic disparity, lack of freedom of religion, speech and continuing brutal oppressions and crackdown of Somali and Oromo communities can only pave the way for civil war.

In the environment like that where unfairness, constant prosecutions, harassment and lack of accountability produces an environment where revolt on poor governance is seen as revolution, this can only be said to validate the use of force to establish the oppressed and the prosecute rights to govern themselves and to seek justice and this can only manifest in the form of ethnic cleansing of the Tigre people, similar to what happen in Rwanda. In my view and an impending revolt against Mr. Zenawi regime by the Oromo people among other oppressed and prosecute tribes such as the Afar and Somalis of Ogadenia seem inevitable in near future.

Just remember, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The same argument being put forth here, could have been put forth substituting Marehan for Tigre and Somali clans for Oromo, Somali and other oppressed groups in Ethiopia. And we have seen the cost to Somalia at ousting Siad Barre. I'm not a Barre defender, by any means. But the price paid by the Somali people for his removal has been high indeed. Who is to blame, at the end of the day, is really irrelevent.

Furthermore, oppressed does not mean good. Let us suppose Meles were forced from power just as he forced Mengistu from power. Does anyone really think that the new Oromo leadership would suddenly become infected with altruism or carve up Ethiopia and yield to Somali irredentist claims? The Tigre Meles only gave lip service to that. Why would we presume Oromo leadership to be different?

Also, there is another possibility. That Ethiopia plunges into the kind of political chaos that infects Somalia now. There are over 80 different linguistic groups in Ethiopia. Ethiopia is not only fractured by clan affiliations within ethnic groups, but fractured by a large number of ethnic groups.

Therefore, while emotionally the argument that violence to throw off an oppressor seems irresistable, remember that once you cross the Rubicon, it's awfully difficult to get back.

Tyrrany or chaos..these are the choices and as a somali i lean towards
chaos. Its the right of everyone to make a choice.

Ethiopia is ruled by the tigray of ony 4 million or so, and they lord it over everyone else, and presenting a fake democratic facade.
The solution to most of the horns problems is a democratic Ethiopia,
one that is federal and devolves considerable autonamy and power to the
regional states and districts.
Only extreme decentralisation like the system in switzerland , has any chance of creating peace and prosperity.

Dictatorship by an ethinc group will always lead to war and chaos.

Gurey
I do not disagree. Just understand that when we start talking revolution and violent overthrow, that can, and very often does, have negative consequences.

A Federated Ethiopia is, as you correctly point out, a logic approach to governance in Ethiopia. But Ethiopia epitomizes Africa, and in Ethioipia those with the power are loathe to cede it, and those who don't have it are loathe to give up their crack at it.

Somalia is another good example. In 1993 there was a great window of opportunity for Somalia to return to democratic rule. But the Haber Gedir torpedoed that because, in their view, they was the rightful heirs to the Marehan.

So while your ideal solution is a good one, recognize getting there is difficult and fraught with peril.

I take your point...no doubt Ethiopia is not immune to civil disintegration there is evidence of growing civil disobedience within in Ethiopia civil society. this political unrest transcend beyond the two disfranchise ethnic communities (Somali/Oromo), I’m sorry but i have to confess your views do profess a harrowing possibility that Ethiopia might disintegrate into civil war that based in tribal warfare...similar to that of Somali.
The Ethiopian president has fought vigorously every attempt made by the majority of Ethiopians to strip him of presidential political responsibilities through established democratic norms, just like the Siad barre of Somalia..the disposal of Males Zenawi will in my view eventually manifest in a form of violations whether these will be a product of a bloodless coup remain to be seen..

I am hoping that Ethiopia will gradually, over a period of 15 to 20 years, transition to a true pluralistic democracy. That is my fervent hope. If war breaks out, and I do believe that is a real possibility, I think it will cause disintegration of the state with frightening consequences. Not least because there will be no international intervention. The blood letting will run its course and in this case I believe that it would be severe.

MAD MAC sadly i believe that wont happen.
It is more likely that the Amharas using whatever political tools and possibly force will again become the lords of Ethiopia.

Which will not be good for the Somalis in general and esspecially those in the Ogaden. Shudder the thought that this region too disintegrates into brutal internecine conflict.

Its already the scene of fighting, but whats worse would be fighting
between the other ethnic groups.
Already historically somali regions and towns have been moved to the Oromo zones, that probably another scene for future conflict.
