Say you were trapped in a long hallway. On the other end is salvation. The killer may or may not know you're in there. The floor is an old noisy wood.... Do you choose speed? Sprint as fast a you can to safety making tons of noise and definitely alerting the killer to your presence. OR do you pick stealth an silently try to escape making your way across slowly.

Then if that is the case, knowing I stand no chance of escaping if I put faith in my legs, I will opt for the second option and prepare for the worst.
