^^ As muslims, condoms should not be pursued as means to prevent this disease. No sex before marriage, and no adultrous activities are the best due course to prevent this disease and any other STDs.

For those who are already affected, they should not hide it from their future spouses.

Subxaanallaah, I wish we discuss this thread in Somali.

Udun, we can all sing NO SEX before marriage as much as we want but religiously unsanctioned sexual intercourses will happen.

Adultrous activities will be a feature of marriages.

I think it is time for people to discuss this taboo to protect the victims (mainly woman).

The condom does wonders.

Udun is right, absolutely on the mark.

Instead of focusing on what is already rotten, we should be looking for solutions. You can't save the 30-something individual who has already fallen into a death trap, but you can tell the next generation about what's right and wrong.

Anyway, I hope all of their jaahil 'condoms' break, these are clearly people who are pursuing rotten deeds. Let's just protect ourselves and pray that these animals don't enter our lives.

Sometimes I think people like the Taliban and Al-Shabaab have their heads in the right place, actually they do. Lashing sexual deviants and stoning adulterers is a civic duty, no less.

Udun we cannot bury our heads in the sand, a fraction of our population have sex before marriage or outside of marriage. We all know what abstaining means, all of them know it is a sin... you are preaching to the wrong crowd. We should be talking about condoms and screening alongside abstinence. An awareness of this illness and how indiscriminately it speards through sexual contact is key. Some people still believe that someone wont have an STI because they have a good reputation. This sort of ignorance is what spreads HIV and other illnesses. I would love it if we all abstained for Allah swt's sake but that isnt the case sadly.

Monk of Mogadishu. These people have temporary marriages all the time. They move from town to town staying there for a few months at a time and keep marrying vulnerable women and leaving them. They have more sex with more partners than other Muslims. They are not a good example at all. I wish they would abstain all together, but alas, here they are.

Mondey and MONK,
What about the thousand of kids who got the disease through their mothers? what about the thousands that got it through blood transfusions? and unsterlised needles?

STD are diseases that cannot be eradicted through laws and religious fatwas.

You can only defeat it through information and the promotion of condoms.

I don't think so saaxib. This is an epidemic. I have seen many pious women who have contracted the disease. Many of the women I met have been married to men who claimed they lived an islamic lifestyle.

You and I know that sex cannot be banned. Prostitution is the oldest profession on earth.

I think we need a pragmatic approach. Our sheikhs should be very vocal. If we see it as a disease that does not attack muslim people, then we are making a big mistake.

A man can have 4 wives, so why do these lunatics go out cheating and shit all the time? I support stoning adulterers 100% and I have strong reasons. Whenever I see these criminals getting their punishment, it makes my day better.

What the hell am I even doing here? I should move to Bakool or Waziristan, those people understand the recipe to a healthy way of life. :|

True. Walaahi, I almost cried the other day when this woman who came from somalia recently told me a horrible story. She met a man in SOmalia and married him. He came to Europe and was diagonised with the disease. His wife and children arrived and he did not inform them as required by law. They got two more children. She was called to the clinic treating her husband and asked if he told her... no, she said and ended up in a mental institution.

BTW, both of them were very pious (at least given their looks and discourses)

those pious women have got the disease from their dirty husbands that had forbidden relations with other sinful dirty women.. again its women.

the only way to prevent this disease is safe sex and by that i mean marriage not condoms and shit. anyone deviates from this rule should only blame themselfs for what happens to them.

A Muslim society should never advocate for half measures and unislamic conducts, such as using condoms.

Lamagoodle that is a very sad story wallahi. I understand because people who live so called 'religious' insular lives rarely understand HIV like the rest of us who read these articles and media stories on health. They really need more awareness and acceptance of the fact that it can hit them regardless of appearances. The poor babies and hooyo.

Mondey. Waad waalantahey. How can you say a guy cheats then blame the women he cheated with. What about the wife who didnt do anything wrong? Its both sexes and when you understand that you can understand the whole situation. If he wasnt sleeping with women he would either not have the condition or get it through gay activities. Both sexes are involved ion the spread. Like I said, women dont get it through lesbian experiences.

All of you can talk about halal and haram, but the truth is you all need to screen people as not even Al Shabaab and Taliban can end HIV spreading. It can spread through marriages too. It just takes one person to infect several.
