My take on AMISOM troops

Postby waryaa » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:23 pm

mods - I'll understand if you move/del this :)

I challenge all armchair militants and pseudo clan chiefs who never set foot in Somalia to go to Mogadishu and see what life is like for these folks who are taking bullets while Somalis are benefiting from their gains in Mogadishu. I met, conversed and ate with members of the Ugandan army/civilians under the AMISOM control and realized that they are are totally different from how the local media portrays them.

Myth #1: Gaalo (non believers) A good percentage, including many high ranking officials are Muslims. They even have hijabi sisters (I met them in person).
#2: Killing machine: They are professional soldiers and 1000s of times more careful than their Somali counterparts. They always get hurt trying to determine someone's intentions without shooting first.
#3: Hate Somalis: These guys do not hate us, just as frustrated as anyone else. Language barrier is the most single contributing factor of mistrust and suspicion.
#4: They don't want to defeat shababs: Well, this is complicated and hard to understand for the average person. Every action they take depends on very complex and hierarchal decisions made by different players from Kampala to donor nations. They are just soldiers doing what they are asked to do.

End result: Because of their sacrifices, Mogadishu is now controlled by the TFG.

My conclusion: If you hate AMISOM then direct your anger and frustration to the right people: Villa Somalia, Somali parliament, Kampala, UN, donor nations, etc, not to the soldier whose own life is at stake.

  Great post. Agree with almost all of it.

But it also brings to light the bigger issue. If the gains made can be credited mostly to AMISOM, what exactly is the TFG good for? People often refer to the military aspect, but as was clear they cant take credit for this either. If the TFG could step in and provide proper governance and services on the back of these gains it would provide much more room for optimism. But they have not as far as I have seen. What use is there for government that cant provide any effective governance on top of these military gains?

make sure to tell this too my friend whose mother was raped by 4 AMISOM soldiers.
just because you talked to them over a meal of fufu does not mean you understand everything. There are bigger fish that control the little ones you talked to.

^ Well fking said mcali.

Warya has 1 lil meal with AMISOM in which they were probably on their best behaviour but it's enough for him to depict them as heros. Kindly eff off.

Gullible Somalis are useless, but then again every nation has its fair share of sell outs ready to give neck to invaders.

Somali's always complain about "foreign interference" and "foreign hands" that are the root cause of Somali problems. We've had almost no foreign intervention in out country (minus the Marines episode) for 20 years yet we still couldn't get out shit together. We have become barbarians, a threat to regional stability and the world economy, and certainly unfit to rule ourselves. I wish 100,000 MORE troops could come into Somalia to civilise these knuckleheads.

You only support TFG for tribal reasons, you suffer from a disease from the time of jahiiliya.

Waryaa, to be honest it would not surprise anyone to see a piratelander praising invading army. Leave Mogadisho and go back to Pirateland.

You might be right. But they have to leave Somalia when shabaab is destroyed
For now, khawaarijta are the worst group in Somalia history:
Meydadka 3-Ruux o Hilibkooda La Jar Jaray oo Galabta Laga Helay Deegaano Katirsan Jubadda Hoose

Nairobi ( DHM-News ):- Wararka caawa naga soo gaaraaya gobolka Jubadda Hoose ayaa sheegaaya in meydka labo qof oo hilibkooda aad loo jar jaray galabta laga helay deegaanka Afguduud oo hoostagta degmada Afmadow ee gobolkaasi oo ay shabaabku maamulaan.

Qaar kamid ah dadka deegaanka ayaa DHM Radio u sheegay in dadka sida xun loo laayey ay kamid ahaayeen dadka deegaanka kuwaasi oo inta badan u tegi jiray isla markaana wax la soo cuni jiray Ciidamada huwanta ee kusugan deegaanada Qooqaanni iyo Taabto ee gobolka Jubadda Hoose.

Sidoo kale dadka deegaanka ayaa waxay inoo sheegeen in dadka la laayey ee hadana hilibkooda loo jar jaray sida kan xoolaha ay ahaayeen labo wiil oo dhalinyaro ah iyo qof waayeel ah oo gobolka siweyn looga yaqaanay.

Dadka deegaanka ayaa sheegay in dilka naxdinta leh ee dadkaan looga shakisan yahay Al shabaab oo inta badan dadka ay ku tuhmaan ka agdhowaanshaha dhinacyada kasoo horjeeda u laaya si arxan darro ah iyaga oo aan wax badan ka xaqiiqsan.

Arrintaan ayaa waxay cabsi daran iyo khal khal baahsan ku abuurtay dadka ku dhaqan gobolka Jubadda Hoose gaar ahaana deegaanada ka agdhow degmada Afmadow oo uu dhibkaan ka dhacay galabta.

Yalaxoow I don't support al-shabaab and I don't have to choose between two evils.

Caqli xumadaada waxaa u maleesa qofkii kasoo horjeedo xasuuqa Amisom inuu kooxda kasoo horjeedo who are equally spilling the blood of the innocent inuu taageersan yahay.

Yalaxoow gurigaaga Christmas decoration maku sameesay?
