Depression can turn complicated and hideous if not treated.Start off by taking care of ur self first.Eating right, exercise, joining a club, volunteering etc all help.If it worst case, there is mood clinics and such available before medication is tried.

Prozac poppers have happier smiles,ish.

Nanees, the fact that life is temporary and the uncertainty of life after death, that itself can cripple people emotionally and mentally.

Perfect, depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain , sometimes behavioural changes are enough to cure it but other times medication is necessary. You can't help somebody who's depressed but doesnt want to help themselves.

Get a blank piece of paper. Write down what is bothering you. Do something about it.

Tell your 'friend' (( ;) )) to keep busy and not to give oneself time to 'think'. Live life running

PO...a person cant start eating right if they dont feel good...changing a diet completely can be quite stressful, it should be a top priority though, I very much agree. Cinque had a good point...some people do spiral downwards because of depressing ayahs and thinking they will genuinely die tomorrow. That is not healthy! S/he should keep up the praying and thinking of yawmal Aakhira but not make it a 24/7 thing. People like that need to get back into dunia just a little. Changing or getting a new job, new wardrobe, forcing happier conversations instead of depressing those around them...that osrt of thing. They desperately need counselling but I ma never one to advice drugs unless its the very last thing after everything else has been exhausted. Those things are just more chemicals in the brain, I have no idea what people are like when they stop....if they ever do.

Know the source and reason. This is most important. Without knowing the why, moving forward is impossible. If it can be immediately altered, do so. Understand the physiology behind it; it is a chemical imbalance. Vitamin supplements (B12/complex, folic acid, D and daily OJ are good starts) may help reduce the effects, along with proper diet and exercise. Cry if you need to. Talk to someone, if you can. Vent, somehow. Discussion forums exist for this reason. You cannot force someone out of depression. Simply "cheering up" is not how it works. I think depression is a symptom of a subconscious self-examination. You don't "deal with depression", you work through it.

1. Understand reasoning & physiology.
2. Immediately alter the source.
3. Improve diet & exercise.
4. Discuss it with others. Be open about it.
5. Change your wardrobe. Improve your image.
6. Create new goals and work toward them daily.
7. Continue to read and understand depression through varying avenues.
8. Laugh, to the best of your ability.

depressioncomix, akimbocomics, hyperboleandahalf all have excellent projections of what it means to actually feel depression. They also touch on fatalism and apathy, which go hand-in-hand with depression.

Some people say pray. I think it has varying effects.

Slander!

But I'm up for it another time. For now, circumstances dictate otherwise.
