Law enforcement authorities in New Haven, Connecticut have revealed that convicted criminal Darrel Johnson will face charges after admitting to accidentally shooting himself while on the toilet.
New Haven police responded to a call from Johnson, 51, claiming he had been the victim of an attempted robbery.

When they arrived at the address shortly after 10pm local time on Saturday, police found Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
However, during questioning Johnson admitted a robbery had not taken place and in fact his gun had accidentally gone off while he was on the toilet, causing his injuries.
The embarrassed man revealed the gun had fallen from his waistband in the bathroom and fired off a round when it hit the ground.
Johnson told New Haven police that he had recently acquired the gun for personal protection.
He will now face multiple charges relating to being a convicted criminal in possession of a firearm.
Police in Richmond, California, were recently called to a shoe shop in the town when a gun was accidentally discharged as shoppers queued to get their hands on the latest Nike Air Jordan shoes.
A spokeswoman for the Richmond police department revealed that the owner of the gun was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm.
