Its always about motive! Progress for progresses sake is ideal but unrealistic in todays modern capitalist society. If we're trying to apply these ideas to our world, than we have to account for the good as well as the bad. Yes our technological ambitions as a society are high enough that all this may be possible, but our greed as individuals are high enough to completely sabotage the possibilities at the same time.

Well before this occurs it's irrelevant to worry because we have the upper hand.
After this occurs then we won't have the upper hand and will have just a very short window to either become part and parcel of our creation or to be thrown into eternal obscurity by them. You're arguing from an essentially racist position. You dislike and fear future humanity because you think they have gone too far with technology and have lost their humanity. But I believe this is essential what humanity has always sought...to evolve and become something better
