Tell us why these discussions should be held in mosques?

the masjid is a community center and i think an issue such as this is fair game to talk about esp in a country where there are now laws that make it legal to get married in some states in a gay manner. its important muslims know the realities we face and i have heard a few khutbahs on the topic by Imams in my area

Whats the agenda? If we discussed it to death and everyone knew exactly what was said and why, it would stop people on both sides making up their own minds about the ayahs and hadiths. Are you happy when the gays say that quwmul Luudh were only cursed for their rape and banditry and not homosexuality like everyone else believes? I think we need to discuss it, regardless of the outcome. Islam is an intellectual religion, we shouldnt be fire bombing anyone.

Have they mentioned their views regarding gay marriage in Islam? If so, what do they say of it?

I understand the mosque is a community centre. But this is wrong.

These people have an agenda ...which is to weaken our morality.

Anyways what does it matter waa wadan gaal ah, anything goes mentality baa meesha ka jirta.
and I am pretty sure within a couple of generations
all muslims in the west will be "hip" and liberal beyond belief we've already started down that path.

All I and like minded people can do is to go back home.

I find really no confusion about Islam's stance on homos, ayahs or hadiths. I have no problems with Khutbah from an Imam, but if it is a discussion or a debate with two opposing views one being that you can be muslim and lead a gay lifestyle, then it should not be held in masjids.

I believe it takes 3-4 generations to lose Islam in the West. Perhaps 5, given strong family ties and racism/notions that marrying outside of race is unacceptable. Just my view.

They were pissed that their relationship would always fall under 'illegal sexual activity' because the rules of marriage are gendered. For example, the 'iddah period would make no sense for two gay men of whom neither can get pregnant. They understand there is little space for that, they just want the death penalty to end because they generally do not believe in stoning to death for sexual activity. They say its only people who have sex in public that should even get lashes because they will eb the only ones with 4 witnesses seeing the act. I dont even have a problem with gay Muslims, they just need mainstream Sheikhs to talk about them without calling for their deaths and all that emotional (and potentially dangerous)caranage. If they did that, they wouldnt have to resort to their own 'fabrications'.

What is their view on sexual infidelity of a married individual? Do they believe their "illegal sexual activity" is or should be permissible?

This would never happen here in the UK, the masjid would be fire-bombed.
I would fire bomb the mosque, disgusting. It should not be discussed in mosques because it is clear to us all that it is a forbidden lifestyle and those who want to discuss it have an agenda.

Fahizzle I agree w. Leila. there are few things expressly forbidden in the kitaab and while we as muslims are commanded to essentially play well with other (lakum diini kum waliya diin), we are never told to kow tow to others and desensitize our own communities to these sins in the process. The discussion of a sin desensitizes one to the gravity of that sin, this isn't COOL
