I never understood what was so wrong with prostitution. Me thinks it should be legalized.

Its disgusting and demeaning for the wome whos doing it, and you gotto have a very bad self-esteem to pay for intercourse.

Oh and also its HARAAM
It's also the world's oldest profession so there's obviously a lot of demand.
It should never be legalized because it demeans women and deprives them off their god given value and dignity. Not to mention the amount of diseases they expose to their communities.

You do realize it will always exist whether you legalize it or not. Right?

that's a lie, its not the worlds oldest profession. It didn't even come about till a currency was established.

You don't need currency for prostitution to take place. During The Russian Revolution, women used to prostitute themselves for half a loaf of bread.

I have no trouble believing that a caveman would offer a hungry cavewoman some meat after a successful hunting trip in exchange for no strings attached sex.

so does murder
Murder generally doesn't have two consenting participants.

Yea, but so does pornography and that's legal and widely viewed. Why the double standard? Men are willing to pay for sex, women are willing to offer it....it will always exist by the laws of economics so instead of worrying about the morals of it legalize it so there can be some regulation to help curve the amount of disease by requiring mandatory STD testing and what not.

And my point was that there really is not equivalence between murder and prostitution.

I agree, but I still don't think it should be legalized.

Bread is just one example, a more recent example.

Anything can be used as to barter for sex.

Perhaps a spot next to the fire, or some shiny object. non-marital sex has been very common in human society and there's no reason to doubt it hasn't always been that way, unless you contend earlier humans were somehow more moral than we are, which I highly doubt.

Prostitution is a reality, and we either bring it out to the open and try to regulate it or let it flourish in back alleyways. Neither option maybe acceptable for the moral brigade, but I think the first one is better for society.

Im not saying its not old, I'm just telling you, its not the oldest form of profession.

to your next point, you assume that making it legal will mean that it will no longer flourish in the back alley's. This assumption is incorrect. Prostitution is legal in Nevada, it is regulated an all. but there are for more women working as prostitutes in the streets of Las Vegas than in the brothels which are government regulated.
