Sxb, one thing we must understand that muslims such as Grandpakhalif, read the qur'an literally and don't research on each word Allah says, wether in translation or not , The Qur'an is very metaphorical, where Allah says don't take them as allies, it is not to the individuals who grow up with elementery kids who are christian or jews, its if in your a position of leading a country, and take a country such as America or Isreal as Allies and Friends, the sad thing is Saudi Arabia does this and grandpakhalif justifies it.In this verse the word Awliyaa is used which is loosely translated here as allies. A more accurate translation would be patron.
O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people. (Quran 5:51)
