Always asked myself that question. I have perhaps only 2 Somali friends, two that I grew up with. I generally have observed that Somali friendships are based on necessity not friendship. for as long as you have something desirable, the "friendship" flourishes. Its deeply annoying making new contacts either at work, or in social settings because you know that connection is just a delayed request for something. Why is it that nowdays back in Somalia, everyone has an NGO, is trying to work for an NGO or wants to steal money from an NGO.
Fortunately, I have learned to become defensive with my contact info, avoiding all social events that will lead to can you help me with XXXXXX, and generally being a cold guy i.e. not socializing nor really caring about others.
So is it easy to have lasting friendships with skinnies ?
