August 2012 Candidates

Postby Shirib » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:31 am

So Elections are set for August, if nothing else comes up. Here's a few of the candidates that might be in the race. Add others. What's your opinion, who do you like to win, who do you think will win?

Farmaajo and tarzan would be a dream team but it will never happen because they share the same views and the somali politics would be seen as neo-siyaadist

all I know is that the next somali president will be under 50 years old, technocrat and from prominent southern clan
I will bet on marexaan, abgaal, habar gedir

next speaker will be laysaan

I'd like to see Farmaajo, or Tarzan, as they would do an amazing job, but I don't think they will get the job either.

I actually think, it's looking more like Shariif will get an extension :|

who do you reckon the next speaker will be?

Someone who won't steal a dime from the state coffers please. I don't care if the guy is yellow. Someone who is competent and not corrupt is what Somalia needs

Are there any minorities who are planning to run?

No, I don't think any minorities are running.

I think Farmaajo and Tarzan have displayed exceptional leadership abilities, that's our best bet, but in the crazy world of Somali politics, I don't think they'll get the kursi

Minorities are not running? Probably because the self-titled "noble" Somali clans would never allow this to happen. Sometimes I wish a Madhibaan does a coup-d'etat in Somalia and rule the place with an iron fist. Wishful thinking.

You are right though. Farmaajo and Tarzan are great leaders but I think Farmaajo is comfortable where he is now. Likewise with Tarzan.

well no one knows for sure who is running yet, but I don't ever recall a minority running. Only clans that really run for President are Hawiye and Darood :|

forget about sheik sharif, sharif hassan or faroole they are damaged good.the somalis and the international community consider them polarising figures.
the next speaker will come from a influencial raxanwayn sub clan who has influence in the inter-riverine , remember the somali politics and attantion of the world is focosing in the inter-riverine era.

once al shabab is defeated raxanwayn, marexaan, ogadeen will dominate somali politics because all eyez are on them all the international aid millitry. dipomatic and inteligence wise is being spend on them since they are fighting al shabab, now soon they will reap the fruits
there is even talks of 6 gobol union and that would form the base for permenent somali power structure

Unfortunately I think Sheikh Sharif will be re-elected for another term. Lets not forget that it is the TFP that elect the president and not your ordinary citizen, therefore we might not get the most suitable person for the post.
