the bottom end of the progressive nations are its elders, no one likes them or watch their movies. imagin if the somali young men have been paralysed mentally and misleaded by some elders who feel entitled to take on the clan role and the making of the feture clan leaders. what a decadence!!

Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan(aun) and Major General Mohamed Siyaad Barre(aun) are the two undisputed heroes of Somali nationalism, Ahmed Gurey, Amiir Nuur, Abadir Muse are also extremely revered men in Somali History.

I sometimes wonder if these men lived at the same time what great super power we would be, i would have Ahmed Gurey as Islamic leader, Amiir Nuur as military leader, Siyaad Barre head of government and Sayidka head of homeland security and internal affairs.

You can put Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan(aun) in that list but not Said Barre.
There is no comparison.

One is only thought of by his clan , others do not even want to hear his name.

Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan on the other hand is respected and admired by his enemies.
I hate him and i still deeply admire and respect him.
and so do his enemies.

Not really, I have met many people from diverse clans who admire MSB...matter of fact the guy who I bought my current car from had a picture of MSB in his wallet wallahi and his abgaal

With that said Non-Clanist somalis are the only ones who have unanimous heroes, the rest will always be biased.

Mujaahids ,
Very few are real unanimously celebrated and accepted heros!
Gandhi is seen as responsible for the partition of India by indian nationalists like BJP and its satelite partys.
They claim with some justifications that had he not scared the Mulim Party by his rhetorics India would have stayed united ...

Mandela is highly criticized for the way he treated the AIDS epidemic in South Africa!
Some accuse him for never paying necessary attention to Aids prevention!

Not being unanimous on a hero might be a sign of political maturity...because there are no perfect heros...except my
great great great grand fther Mujaahid fii sabil Waaq Noolee (may Allah reward him jannaatul Firdaws although he was Waaqist)
who beheaded Nur Ahmed :D

Personally I am not the type to carry around images of any kind except maybe my ID and sh!t but I wouldn't question his sanity, he was actually a decent guy.

You have heros when you know what heroemis meant.

For me I have the following heros in Somali history:

Ahmed gurey ( a somali who disputes ahmed guery's ethncity is deeply disturbed individual..as most of us are).

Sayid Mohamed hassan

Mohamoud Harbi

the man who composed 'kana siib kaana saar'

Mohaed Siyad Barre (for his for somali name in the African Union in the 70's).

Abdi Billeh

That is all I can remember know.

abdir muse warwajecel ( in my opinion the greatest somali that ever lived he was a king and a conqueror when europe was noting)
ahmed guray
emir nuur
sayed abdallah hassan
Maxamed Ibraahim Cigaal
president siyaad

the top three are celebrated beyond somali territory they are infact muslim heros
sayed is special case because without sayed there would be no siyaad and without out siyaad we would would erase 70% of modern somali history
our modern conscience somali idenity is the result of sayid, so in my opinion I conisider abadir muse and sayd properly the 2 greatest somalis if not 2 greatest muslim in east africa.

I consider ibrahim egal the first somali modern politician who understood the new world, he was a statesman of highcaliber but he was submerged and tainted by the politics of the 60s.
ibrahim egal could have been our Lee Kuan Yew, but he never got the chance, and for that I blame the italians and their 60s lackeys

In my book Egal was traitor who sold NFD to Kenya in Arusha Accord in 1967 and i did not got about Abaadir Muse Warwaaqjecle's myterious achievement. rest i agree with you.
