There's nothing about child labour in this piece.

China has one of the highest suicide rates in the world,it doubt it has anything to do with the company itself.

I find it interesting that the supposedly more emotionally well off Scandinavian countries are worse off when it comes to suicide, when compared to Canada and the States. Then we have Haiti down at the bottom. I wonder if that stat has changed after the quake.

^^^ That is one interesting list of countries.

I never thought males committed more suicide than women.

I think the reason why the Scandinavians are higher up in that list because of self-isolation and loneliness. You wouldn't believe how many people live by themselves. There is no strong family connections, children leave home or even sometimes kicked out when turned 18 and old people are thrown in nursing homes and some of them don't even get visit from their children. all that + high intake of alcohol. it's seen as being totally normal children drinking at 13-14.

Beans,

I'm not surprised much. But the sheer number is astounding. 24,000+ in Japan and possibly 300,000+ in China. 500,000 world wide.

Mandeeq,

The feeling of loneliness is one among many factors that lead to suicide.

I know Alpha. It is really scary.

I dont see any hope of those numbers going down, considering we live in a society that is encouraging isolation and loneliness.Humans arent meant to be i guess.

The physical factor of being alone isn't always the main cause.

The numbers won't go down. They will rise steadily I think. Scary? I don't know if it is.

Women don't have the balls to do it.

True, loneliness isnt just being physically withdrawn from others but it definitely is a catalyst.

U dont think it is a scary situation, not knowing how many of us would easily fall into that.

Accident,no woman arent that stupid. :) Altho, they do the shittiest forms of suicides.

I think men have harder time getting over depression than women mostly because women are better at talking about their feelings and sharing etc.

Yes, it's a catalyst. Then again, many things are. No, it isn't scary. I know how many of us will fall into it; approximately 500,000. What is there to be scared of?

I think women are fewer because they're able to handle emotions better, generally speaking. It doesn't always seem that way, but the expression itself is a method of handling it. Just as Mandeeq said.

Stupid? Hmm.
