sometimes it's not planned or attention seeking but some people just lose it for a moment and do something stupid they regret.

I've seen people who survived those kind of attempts not pretty sight :| I still can't get over this guy who burned his himself to unrecognizable ..oh God. and he had to suffer till his dead months after.

Ok Alpha. What happens when one evaluates and determines their self worth based on how much others want/need them? What happens when that is taken away? The very thing that gave them a purpose? Be it a job, spouse etc.

That is misappropriated worth. They've placed their value in the things around them. This is what I'm talking about. It isn't about wanting attention, but more to do with the self.

Mofo, he actually trying to justify the high suicidal rate of Foxconn. I don't think Bill gates would say the same thing

It might not be wanting it but it definitely is about keeping what defined them.

No. I think the majority of cases are not about loss.

It comes from a cynical - near nihilistic - realization of everything around them. They view themselves worthless and with a certainty of failure ahead. There's no point in trying, since there is nothing to look forward to. Actions lose meaning. Everything loses meaning.

I think that's the general though process.

I'm arguing that it isn't the loss itself, but the fact one has misplaced their self worth. If the object which they've attached their value to is gone, the thought process mentioned occurs.

Beans,

I think understanding the point I've made is crucial for anyone who's been affected by thoughts of suicide. Unfortunately understanding it alone doesn't always work.

I have never met a suicidal person and i am sure u have a serious and important point Alpha. I am not dismissing that in any way.

But i have met few people whose life have no meaning without the things that define them.I have known someone for a while, who with a serious face always says if his wife left him with the kids,he is hanging himself. :( That breaks ma heart.
