When would that Somalia falling in that list occur? Even if Somalia did economically prosper and hypothetically had an extremely high per capita gdp its population would still be much too low to reach anywhere near those levels of economy. With a population of 11 million (including Somaliland) and a total of 17 million in the world one Somali nation would never reach that high let alone one divided into 2/3. :|

It is not a question of size. Switzerland, Singapore, Luxembourg etc are not large economies but they have still managed to have economic growth and human development

HDI and GDP per capita are more accurate descriptors of how a country is doing, especially one similar to Somalia's size.

True, I was once in Bhutan and was fascinated by what I was told. Instead GDP they use GHP (Gross happiness). It is a funny country, Bhutan. The king wanted to have democracy and the people were asked to vote; it was difficult to convince the people of the advantages of democracy.

People need to realise that Economy comes down to market, if u dont have largae population then u cant build consumer based economy, but you can build knowledge/export based economy like Singapore or if you are lucky you will get Natural resources and live like Canada and Australia.

What's the source of this list? It doesn't make any sense. China's economy is less than half that of the US? How does that make any sene in light of the recent projections about how China may take over the US in the next 10/15 years.

They're assuming that China will continue to have astronomical rates for growth
