thnx bro. What is really pushing me to do this is a Somali came second in the VA opeing season races and he was super fast. His time was 15.58.47 for 5k. I got 20.35.23. I am sure there are other superstarts out there. Time to form a Somali Long Distance Dynasty huh? Amxaaros have it it long enough if you ask me. Thats why it felt so good when we ran all over the Ethios and Eritreans the other day.

anyways, thanks for the support bro

Smile

I did long distance for 4 years. I did Cross Country in the fall, indoor track in the winter and outdoor track in the fall. I did the 800 meters and the 1 mile. Tips? run a lot and learn to pace. I can't tell you anymore. My team practiced 7 days a week so we used to be #1 at my state so I guess that helps too. Laughing Guess who the best long distance runner in the state was? A somali kid. I was really good at 800 meter but that was about it. Now some ethiopian kid broke his record and become the best long distance high school runner in my state.

thank god someone who knows what he is taking about!

bro, my biggest problem is pace. I go out too fast first mile, i slack the second mile, and i'm dead by the third. I have no idea how to set pace! But we do practice hard. Our easy days are 45 minute runs at a 7:00 pace. The other days are workouts like the 1200 m by five. Or we simulate a race. I really work hard for this.

The best runner in the state was a dinka Sudanilast year, but this year the best runner is on my team. We are ranked number 5 in the state. I dont mean to brag but we will probably win Regionals and Districts.

Do you have any advice for me bro?

Thanks

My couch used to tell us to eat a lot of carbohydrates like pasta, cereals etc. several hours before races. It will give you that energy you need to finish the race when you can't feel your legs no more. Laughing

Yeah I used to run a 8kil twice a week , not because i like it but because it was mandatory + once a year an 15kg 8kil in less than an hour for qualification. Anyways my only advice is practise , practise and practise some more. It seems like our bodies are built for that type of exercise , as I was a mediocre runner when running with the Djibouts and a little above average when running with the frenchs Laughing

thank you all, and yes Qansa i know how it feels. Funny though, did you know your shoulders give out before your legs? At the finish line, i always look like a dead dude walking.

I mean, try running up a hill after 2 and a half miles of running?! I am always compelled to stop!
