Ok, i got a question, i dont whether its regional thing or not, but when someone says to me sorry "walashiis" or "walalkiis" to an individual sounds a bit off, or is it just me, is it some sort of new slang or somthing?

Not all somalis use those words, qaybaha qaar uun ba laga isticmaala.

It's the ciyaalka xaafada version of "walaal". More informal and generally used when the person has nothing to say.

Yes, it does exist. Most of what constitutes as today's written Somali would make any Somali grammar teacher crinch in disgust, specially most of the so-called Somali news sites.

Indeed, the Somalia is butchered daily but walaashiis/walaalkiis are harmless. They're akin to sweetie, dear, hon used by English speakers. I find it annoying when a total stranger, a cashier, says to me "you're welcome dear/sweetie." WTF! Don't sweatie me, I aint you're sweetie.

The so called big, old, international languages have new words/phrases forming everyday so what do you expect from Somali or other small languages? The only difference is ours isn't officially collected & printed.
