So I went to the Farmaajo event in Seattle, although it was long and thou Farmaajo did not really address his political platform, I must admit I am proud of my Somali Seattleites. This city is truly a good place to raise a family, a conservative community that has a good relationship with the mosques and religious leaders. I was amazed at the diverse attendance of different mosques and religious leaders; the event could have might as well been a muxaadaro, this is so because of the ties between the religious leaders and the community. Farmaajo himself was surprised noting that he had not seen a community like ours and that the attendance of the diverse and largely present religious leaders is a sign of the ties and faith (kalsooni) the religious leaders have with the community. In other Somali events be it Europe or America you see a lot of muscians and half naked people partying, but this event was opened with a lengthy Quran and the imam afterwards kindly advised everyone to remember God and abide by Islamic etiquette, in which the people responded to it kindly. It was not a party or typical bashaal xaflad, everyone took a break and prayed maqrib together too, Mashallah. What was really amazing was for a large tribal diverse community there was a great turnout regardless of qabil about 2000 people came.
