the issaqs in somalia, like all the other somalis, have nothing.
they`re fleeing the country in they`re thousands, through deserts and across the seas.

dont let the secessionists in the west fool you into thinking sl is milk and honey.
they need a stable south as much as everybody else.

50 years....what a joker
Oh I forgot , the ability to ignore the noise too  , very important

lama,I think the somali brain never developed beyond stone age. I still have to come across a size-able number of somalis who can disagree with their tribesmen. Out of topic, I met some guy who was extremely against the new proposed constitution yesterday. When I asked why he opposes he said hebel and hebel (his clansmen/former warlords) are against it. We are a like a pack of wild fill the blank.

In other words we would have made Darwin very happy as the missing link   You should read Hubert Spencer, 19th century sociologist who devised social darwinism. His examples fit the behaviour of somalis.

Somalis and their tribalistic attitude can actually be explained through the perils of foreign aid. If there was no aid money involved they would have bonded against starvation, innovate etc.

SahanGalbeed,
You have a valid point when you assert that AID money is needed to kick-start development. But, even though that was the aim initially in the 1950s, things have changed. It has become an instrument of "guilt" cleansing.

Aid and resources have always gone hand in hand my friend.

There is a whole industry in the industrialised world. It is a big part of GDP growth in developed countries because alot of the money goes back to the coffers of the donor countries.
There is a Somali proverb that says
kolba sidii loo jabo ayaa loo dhutiya .
We're not there yet my friend .
We're not India okay , let's be serious here
India is perhaps not a good example. Have you been to Latin America saaxib? This continent provides a good example.

Aid has become the new colonial tool saaxib.

We are almost there if we protect our agricultural sector and if we tax our people
I hear you bro , but that's the next phase
Phase 1 : Peace , political engagement , hope and the less possible number of hungry bellies.

Original Dervish,
Do you want me to intellectually murder you because I can if I want to. Having read some of your contributions on these boards, and your capacity it is fair to assume that intellectual capital is the same as that one of saccharomyces cerevisiae. In other words an easy quarry for almost everyone on this site make you look like a fool.

Beat it . You are ignored.

Lamagoodle, Original Dervishe was responding to Jalaaludin regarinding the so called Somaliland independence day. Your commentt/refernce to 'BC' probably did not register since the parellel conversation was about another topic.

I hope more people discuss this topic regaring aid and NGO etc.
