Not a good move; weak institutions not good for investments. Yeah, sometimes there are returns on capital investment but there is a risk premium and higher opportunity/transcation costs.

Did you copy that from an introductory finance text book?

2 decades of wars and intermittent famine have reduced the country to ruins.
state directed investment in housing and infrastructure projects will boost the national economy and consolidate the peace.
What incentive is there for people to put down their guns, if the alternative is a life of poverty, hunger and destitution.
In my opinion, Govt investment is part of the war against the anti peace elements. :som:

I have a postgraduate degree in finance. You were asked about investing in Somalia, and this is what you said " sometimes there are returns on capital investment but there is a risk premium and higher opportunity/transcation costs" Do you even know what you are talking about?

tightrope, your clearly kidding, but i sense and undercurrent of seriousness :?
in the future, if you ever see a dime off that "oil money", you can build yourself a palace outside kismayo.
with your riches you can be supplied with rent-a-dreads all summer long.
they won`t be any the wiser back east, and you will be contributing to the local bantu economy :D :som:

Ok. I am just a geeljire who learnt how to write; who am I to argue with a "post graduate" student who has probably published in the Annals of Economics and The Journal of Finance?

P.s. did you go to adult education in Sweden and move to an English speaking claiming that you are a post graduate? Typical Lamagoodle mentality

by higher transaction cost, i think he means it will be more expensive for the over bureaucratic public sector to carry out a project, as compared to the leaner more efficient private sector.

I do have some sympathy with that argument, especially when you consider how inept and corrupt Somali officialdom is.
however, there needs to be strategic economic planning. houses, schools, hospitals need to be built across the country.
we cant have a situation where any of the above is only built where a profit can be made.

Ok. Mr Post graduate student. I am looking forward to your paper on improving the Black–Scholes-Merton's thesis, in particular the strike price and the volatility of return.

I am still laughing at "post graduate"    somalis and their love of inflating/abusing academic titles.

Habeen wanaagsan
