what has went wrong? we didnt have an air force unlike of ethiopia and then the soviet union has made us the strongest army in africa, having seen how such countries like libya, syria, iran, algeria and others have benefited economically and politically from their relationships with the soviet union, what do you think they would have done for us strating from the year 1977 when we ditched them? i was watching a somali video who says the soviet was ruling the country and that why somalis were unated back in the early years of the revolution. do you think the civil war was not gonna happen in 1991 and the state would had a longer chance with order?

Without a Said Barre order, Somalia's military wouldn't have attacked Ethiopia. Soviet wouldn't have killed our brave young fighting men. Majerteen wouldn't have stepped on the African Hawiyes and Somaliland wouldn't have divided itself and be a never-recognized fairytale country.

this is about somalia, ethiopia and the soviet not about these somali clans. so,if you stick to the topic was it possible for the soviet union to make somalia and ethiopia two progressive states who are friends and dont conspire eachother and hence no civil wars? or all this was inevitable?

No. I don't think. Ethiopia and Somalia are not meant to be friends. And reason is Ogadenia. Soviet or the world never showed an interest to resolve the Ogaden issue. Just like Pakistan and India, or Palestine and Isreal, or Sudan and South Sudan these countries are not meant to be peaceful with each other. Moreover, it seems you focusing on symptoms alone, forgetting roots of the problem. I could even go further and say, the whole great horn would never see stability and progress until Ogaden cause is resolved.

i get it but, im not talking about nationalism ideology wich is limited to ones land, nation and country. for communism, the whole ethiopia and somalia were one single entity. that why libya, south yemen and others have sided with ethiopia againist somalia. so if we had accepted this according to their will we may all have had progressive and stability.

Its done. We missed our chance in the 90's.

We will get another opportunity in the next 50 years.

i still dont get it why these countries have sided with ethiopia, some thing was wrong with somalia.

They didn't see us as any other african countries because we was more smarter and could be the powerfull country in Africa and middle east, think about the war between Somalia and Ethiopia back in 1964, our dowlad was only 5 years old and we had less than 3500 troops, against Ethiopia and we still kicked their ass.
Think about how powerfull we would be now if there wasn't no civil war

what is the ethiopian point of view of ogaden/somaligalbeed? why they want to keep it?

2. They don't wanna get humiliated by getting beat by Somalis
3. Ogaden are the key for Somalia to get back on it feet, because of resources they have.

Since we fought with each other for years. One last time wouldn't hurt... A last & final war against Ethiopia to reclaim Ogadenia would be like the cherry on top. Then, maybe the UN will start to wonder "wtf is going on in the horn?"
