I saw these butt-kissing baaniyaals in my workplace too. They work with me and I have never seen people like them. These people believe the more they are closer to the cadaan the more successfull they become. In the place that I work, there is this director and the only manager that reports to her is a cadaan guy. She would kiss his shoes and she would shake her head like those baaniyaal folks do "yes, yes, yes." A fellow Muslim from the same place that they come from told me "she beliefs he is the boss due to a legacy that the British colonials left there." I saw it too.guys i live here and let me tell you that the good old days are gone.
20 years ago a bachelor degree would have you got you good pay, better than in the west, usually free accommodation and a a good lifestyle, especially for families.
10 years ago a bachelor degree and 2 to 5 years experience would get you the same .
10 years ago cadaan were worshiped and given amazing pay and perks, but things have changed.
Today there are 200,000 emaratis entering the workforce within the next 10 years , thats 20,000 a year .this trend has been building since the last 10 years.
There is a government program of nationalization, meaning companies will be set a quota of emaratis to hire, so they will be forced to hire less expats and more locals.
20 years ago cadaan westerners were still not so numerous and a rare sight so they were a privileged elite.
10 years ago from 2000 onwards there has been an explosion of westerners comming into the country , i think there must be nearly 400,000 out of 8.5 million people today.
There are so many cadaan westerners that they no longer command such high salaries, there is an equalization in the market, and skills and experience count more than origin today.
Supply and demand.
I have a few westerners in my department and i earn more than all of them.
allot of indians and arabs like egyptians palestinians earn more than them.
they are getting the same pay as everyone else today.
the stories you hear are from 10 years back.
In the UAE job market there is massive competition , a degree is not enough you need experience more than 5 years minimum and specialized qualifications.
Furthermore its not worth it going for IT jobs because for every job you apply for there are 20 indians with more experience than you, more techniclas qualifications than you
and willing to work for 1/4 what you are willing to work for and willing to work crazy hours and and also take abuse from their employers while kissing their ass?
Why hire you an uppity somali/westerner when you can get slaves to work for you?
The only good jobs available are management jobs, project management, marketing and creative stuff were you interact with people.
slaves cannot do those kinds of jobs, so highly polished Indians, Arabs and westerners come in.
