Whenever I use Somalinet on my mobile phone, I hide it by turning it on the other side and making sure no one can see what I am on. Only a white friend knows I am on this site.

Other than that, I use this website on my laptop in my room with the door locked.
Thats some crazy shidh, what are you afraid off ?
This is how people see drugs, from being harmless to being severe

1)Khat
2)Marijuana
3)Cocaine
4) Heroin

This is how people (Somalis) see Somali websites/chats, from being harmless to severe

1) Somalilife
2)Somaliaonline
3) Somalinet
4) Pal Talk

I don't want to be known as the qabiilist on the block. Somalis love to gossip.

I don't get the paranoia. I do understand the misuse of photos, since I've had the privilege of being on youtube, but what I don't understand are those who are willing to put their pictures up on tumblr, facebook, twitter, etc, but are afraid to do so here. Shit makes no sense to me. :|

I guess Somalis just don't like each other.
Truthfully, I'd rather not be associated with this website; it's almost like stating that you post on /b/.

Incomparable. It is simply because we are Somali.

It is the reason why Qarxis tanked after it's FB initiative. Somalis do not want to be known by other Somalis. Yet, here we are.

lol @ Paltalk being equivalent to heroin, Somalis can be a weird bunch when it comes to gossiping, I suppose you have a legit reason. Although they might look at it as tho, the young lad is defending the cyber tolka

my wife told me it was either her or Snet...i miss her sometimes.

Not entirely sure. Think I realized how foolish it is to care so much about entirely anonymous activity while others on Facebook, twitter, youtube, etc are flaunting behaviour that many would view as obscene. What exactly do I have to hide here on Snet? How would anything here be any different than a conversation in person?
May be people use Snet & other forums for ways other than we do or the norm is? Don't know. I think it's entirely Somali thing. It's somehow connected with that paranoia of posting one's pic as their avatar on forums, though whole pics are posted on the other sites you mentioned like Facebook etc.

Very interestingly phrased

Somalis went through this paranoia phase with Facebook as well. There used to be a website dedicated to finding Somali girls' photos online. I guess waa laga il baxay
