Iskushuban is defined by its strategic location, majestically straddling the meeting point of two rivers that come alive during the rain season.

because it used to be one of the highest concentrations of foreigners in Somalia (Arabs, Indians, Italians)
When was that?
Luuq was the main Jubba/Ganaane river trading post between Somalia and Ethiopia and contained many foreign merchants who came to sell in the interior. I have posted some articles from that time here and Murax described his father telling him even when he was born a large number of the people in Luuq were foreigners.
Sxb, My Dad Was Reer Luuq, and there Were Yemenis that lived they're for generations, and one of them married My Great Aunt, a long time ago, and I'm related to them through Their Mother's side. After generations in Gedo (Luuq, Baardheere) these Yemeni's culture, changed very little and those releatives I had assimilated into their Countries without a problem!

Actually there were sizable numbers of Yemenis all over Somalia. In Luuq and Baardheere, there were loads of them. My Uncle married a Woman from Ta'iz and a Yemeni from Hadramaut married My Great Aunt, and My 2nd cousins are Yemenis but in general these were exceptions. These Guys did keep their idendity for centuries, but You're right it did happened that they married locals as it happened in My family.

Voltage that is really interesting because normally traders don't travel so deep into a foreign country. I'll get more info from my adeero we have family from there.

DRunner is there something in the water in Iskushuban? In Dhusomareeb I heard the water is very heavy and kinda qaraar, perhaps that is what gave them the dhuuso, shubanka lakin maxaa keenay?
