U should have told him that Allah made angels for a purpose and he is testing them as he is testing us. Not because he needs them.
Allah dont need us and nor do he need the angels.

but I thought angels were all obedient to Allah meaning they don't disobey Allah and are essentially subservient. Why would he need to test them? They don't have shubahaat.

i was assuming the somali athiest is probably an agnostic who does believe in Allah but is just dumbfounded with some beliefs of tawheed like the qadr and why Allah does certain things.
