Somalia-Ethiopia-Djibouti-Eritrea confederation

Postby The`Republic » Mon Jun 25, 2012 2:44 pm

This should be the long term socio-cultural-religious-politico objective in the Horn of Africa. The process should go:

1. Pacify Somalia
2. Strengthen diplomatic relations between Somalia-Ethiopia and Eritrea-Ethiopia and Djibouti-Eritrea
3. Build an economic block
4. Free-trade and free-travel within union
5. Shared passport
6. Ultimately shared executive and legislative chamber in a confederation

Lets start at home first. As of now its impossible to join the two remaining regions of somalia. After that you would need the three missing regions and only then can think about confederation in the horn. Also the history of conflicts and wars and the on going animosity between ethiopia and somalia says other otherwise. Simply put: its impossible.

Good point Meta but i can understand voltage he is looking forward and sees the bigger issues in the horn of Africa but its not now we have regional bodies like Igad and others but it just doesn't work. Eritrea and Ethiopia can never agree to cooperate . Somalia and Ethiopia can't get along and what is Left is Djibouti.

Remove ethiopia and it might be feasible.

The Jews and Palestinians living together in peaceful state called PALESTINE has a higher chance of coming to existence than this Horn of African Confederation you talk of. In the Horn it has always been ISKA WAX UQABSO and every attempt that was ever made to form any kind of unity in this region (whether it be economic, political, religion or whatsoever has ended in the destruction of property and life and utter failure for all concerned.

All the countries mentioned each and everyone of them is having difficulties (to say the least) keeping itself and its peoples together, the talk of uniting with a neighbouring country they will laugh at you?

BUT I MUST SAY IN PERFECT WORLD THIS CONFEDERATION OF HORN OF AFRICA WOULD BE A GRAND IDEA.

These are totally gone. The faster you accept the faster you can move on.

Kenya is very much situated in the East African Economic Community with Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. Also for obvious reasons Kenya will find it more appropriate to be part of that camp than the Horn confederation.

I believe the era of pragmatism is near and the sophistication of geopolitical think in Somali leadership will ensue. It will not be easy but it is a very feasible to confederate the Horn in the future.

There is no social, cultural or political affinity between somalis and xabshis. Also I don't see how Eritrea would fight a bitter war with Ethiopia only join them again. The only that somalis should do is trade ethiopia's large tracts of arable farmland in return for access to somali ports.

Funny the somalis could not share a country with people who they share language, Diin, nationality, history, culture, with but will be able to share a nation with Habashi and eritreans? :|

Yeah even you "The Republic" who refuse to share Kismayio with the Ogaden which is a another sub-clan of your own clan, but suggesting to share a nation with Habashi? let us just dream on......
