Is Ramadan really beginngin tomorrow? Suspicious...

Postby SultanOrder » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:43 pm

Why are people fasting Friday as the first official day of Ramadan? By what methods do they determine the beginning and end of the lunar months? And has anybody asked themselves the simple question of why has the beginning of Ramadan occurred after the 29th of Sha'ban almost like it was a fixed date on the calendar, that the month previous to the month of Ramadan is only 29 days and never 30? When we know that our months are either 29 or 30 days and it is highly irregular to have a fixed amount of days for a singular month.

Also can anybody tell me how many times in the last decade or so Ramadan has only been 29 days?

Tomorrow is the month of fasting. Its haram to question or start fasting on a later date.

The sun is up 24 hrs here. My Ramadan starts next week when it drops to 23 hrs

No I'm not, you go and do some research.

Back to the topic, it's the 30th day of shaban, which means tomorrow is Ramadan.

The Islamic calender follows the lunar calender i.e it's based on the moon rather than the sun. the lunar calender is about 10 days shorter than the solar calender which is why the Islamic months change by about 10 days each year.
