It's wonderful, well organised and so British  I could hear the ceremony from my house  Makes me proud to be British. #TeamGP
extremely boring opening ceremony!!! china was wonderful!

by the way, can Somalis be defined as British even though they may have British citizenship?

because i thought you had to be white to be British. you can't be black and just British but you can be something and British.

here in america, we say "Somali-american" not just american.

You cannot be British, a passport doesn't mean anything.

She's right. English is not a race, but a nationality. So if you're born and raised in England you're not English but just British? That's silly.

^ Exactly..
Anyone born/raised *who's a citizen of GB* is British.. While only those who are born/raised in England are English.. Just like those born and raised in Scotland are Scottish and so on!
It's not rocket science.

I was terribly disappointed. 8-) They tried to regale us with what British is known through out the world. They didn't have to do that-- i mean-- reading Shakespeare in front of people who are 'athletic' and sports fans? Who possible never touched a book? I mean, for Gods sake? (to my horror--- they also shows a portrait of Jane Austen-really?)

What is most shocking and revealing --is the athletes who represented the 'Great Britain". They were all white, brown or blonde haired, and utterly pure old British. (with an exception of a few very clean preppy blacks) where is the Pakistanis? The Jamaicans? The ubiquitous sighs and minority immigrants that has taken over and contaminated the British isles? My thoughts -- were---ridiculous and hogwash-Ly ceremonious.

PS Not to mention i couldnt help but chuckle at the self satisfied royals sitted on their best seat district-- Prince William and Kate looked dull and un-smiling at all. Perhaps, they were shocked to learn the Olympics is NOT a pageantry show about them. How refreshing.
