that would be valid point if somalia wasn't faring worse, especially when you consider the vast disparity in population. what ever the short comings of ethiopia, they have a fully functioning and stable government and a critical mass of informed citizen, this doesn't even warrant a comparison with somalia. btw are you aware that at least 50% of the starving "ethiopians" are actually ethnic somalis? you see the genius meles plays the simple game where he starves the region that he doesn't get cooperation from.

I definitely agree that the average habesha person is probably fairing better than the average somali. They're "fully functioning" government has only been semi-stable since 1991 and before that (mengistus regime) times were much worse in ethiopia than ever in somalia. ethiopia's stability is a relatively new phenomenon that may not last once zenawi is gone.

In short, Zenawi is actually a halfway decent dictator.
