big deal man. Westernization contiinues
The Muslim world fell behind because they stopped becoming educated. Don't try to reduce the value education. We should strive to be the best doctors, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, etc. as well as being the best in our diin. They are not two separate issues, where if you strive in one you don't strive in the other.

If he is that good in science, why economics and political major in Oxford? A wasted talent. He could have done better in Engineering or Other science fields.
isn't Oxford like Harvard? It doesn't matter what you major in, you'll get the connections :stylin:

His chances can be limited later on with the political science degree and economics.

It should be celebrated, as this is a good accomplishment. Everyone will be judged on their good deeds. You're trying to take away from going to Oxford by saying will Allah grant you Jannah if you graduated top of your lass from oxford? But reality is we should strive to go to the best universities. Muslims are behind in society because for a very long time we stopped studying and fell behind in education. When Muslims were a great power we had the best doctors, scientists, academics etc. If you want that to happen again we must strive in both education and diin. The two go hand in hand.

Misery loves company ma maqli jirtay?! Most of these extremist types are too dumb for uni anyway, so they justify their lack of drive and ambition by saying stuff like mixed environments are haraam, studying the deen is much better and so on.
