Who is to blame?

Postby 1nemansquad » Sun Aug 19, 2012 8:24 am

for the decline of Somalinet Forum?

Lack of anything Intellectual?
This place was pulsating with vigor of intellectual energy and thought provoking discussions. A large variety of personal views on all subjects, where they were discussed with a level of understanding of an issue that sheds light on or perhaps help solve a problem. I recollect a time where forumers would put in immense deal of effort to present an argument that was masterfully written and presented. People used to take pride in what they post, how they check the other side or their antagonist through logic, truth or how well one arliculates his/her point of view. Yes there was passion, anger, insults even but all that came from the fears intellect and clash of ideas. I had an overwhelming admiration for some of the people that did post here for the reason that if you did not do a thorough preparotory study of a subject you wanted to debate about with another forumer, you were made to look dumb.

At the present day, it seems as though we have found solace in our dumbt down surroundings. Surely those who came before weren't more intelligent than the forumers of today, so where have things gone wrong? why instead of choosing substance in the place of popularity we shed more light on trifling issues rather discussing things of importance. Why is that silly topics get more hits than those of sensible message? I'm not sure what the problem is nor do I have a solution for it but I thought I would just put this out there and let people examine it for themselves.

it's due to high amount of moderators going on power trips, they banned intellectuals like union and WigglingBidaar. there's no diversity.

Who is to blame?
Overmoderation. There are no more than 50 active forumers, but at least 10 moderators. The mods aren't impartial; they remove the posts of members of rival clans or even ban them. They also cannot stick to a decision they make; a friend or one from same clan can nudge them to change the decision.

 How about the vigor and pulsating thought of having a "L.I.F.E"! Kudos to them who have a life outside Somalinet. We all cannot have 99 names and pretend we are different people ya know. :)

Maybe its because of all the needless namecalling/labelling of people with opposing opinions. Debates never actually go anywhere anymore because of that and I'm sure a fair few never materialize because of it as well.

Nothing to debate here, most of the topic r qabiil or qabiil based states, qabiil bashing and personal attacks.

If ppl want intellectual debates then qabiil based topics should be banned.
