Why did the British do that? The British gave the north full administration power of the south

The British felt that south Sudan was in no way shape or form ready to be an independent state running its own affairs. All of the British resources and expertise went to north Sudan with very little going to South Sudan. This is not really because the north Sudanis were kissing British asses but because the British didn't really have any power in south Sudan until the 1920s. So, Northern Sudanis got more help establishing their administration and their political structure was better. Initially, the British wanted south Sudan and north Sudan to have independent self-rule but they changed their minds a few years later and made the two Sudans unite for the reasons stated above. Why did the British do that? The British gave the north full administration power of the south
