It could be possible.. Not sure about companions.. But the flesh of Prophets are not eaten by the earth, nor is it eaten by wild animals..

West some scholars say its the same for the companions , the greatest people on the earth were the prophets, after that was the sahaba of muhammad (saw).
In Libya the sad thing is Zuhayr (RA) was the sahaba who led the charge of introducing Islam in north africa, in the mid 680's he defeated a berber king and settled in Benghazi, where he's buried. And this is the respect they have digging him out
If it were bones it would remain flat on the ground the shape in the torso and legs seem wide and it seems the kiswa is new probably put over him after they dug him out of his resting place.
