xiinow that is incorrect. Borama along with some other areas in Somaliland has vertisol soil(black soil), suitable for grassland and growing crops.
It is in fact greener than large parts of Somalia like Puntland, Central Somalia etc.

Greenest parts of the north have to be the wajaale-dila-borama area and the sanaag forests where villages like gudmo biyo cas have running water streaming past their feet.

Very beautiful. Northern Somalia is not a desert even though many Somalis think it is. Dadkii arkay Gabiley and Hargeysa in the 80's knows what Im talking about. Togdheer, Sool and Sanaag was also more ''green'' aswell as the Nugaal Valley in central Somalia. The problem is the charcoal mafia thats destroying the eco-system. The enviroment is very fragile in the Horn.
