If it were a woman approaching a man, "advising" him to grow a beard, not to walk with women, stop smoking, raise his pants above the ankle, etc, and he reacted with, say, a punch to the ovaries.

The guy should have left her alone after the insults started, but I think he probably did this more than once and didn't see are reaction coming.
There are certain men I avoid because they do not know the etiquettes of giving a dawah. Thou I do not think anyone should be hospitalized for three days for being a nuisance.

thats thinking is just years of bad programming intended to keep women down.
you should never be afraid of retaliation if you keep your enemy down.
i will be teaching this to my daughter if i have one inshallah.
in university i was an assistant instructor in a self defense class for women.
i can definatley gaurentee that with the right training , a skinny women can beat down a 200+pound man.
