Since you seem to have so much spare time, why don't you develop a translation tool like for English----> Somali.
That's much more complex to do, I leave that sort of stuff to Google.

There's a burco script? Where do you find out this stuff?

Arabic isn't really compatible with the somali language.
I think it's quite compatible.

Interesting project, James. What led you to want to do this?

In my historical research to get the correct rendering of a name I would transliterate the arabic or ge'ez, and the online options for doing that sucked, so I made my own.

Hey James,

I actually have a corpus of Somali--->English translations that I've helped someone build into a small webapp before, but it's pretty simple at the moment (searching up single words a time), I'm interested in helping you make a full Somali to English translator possibly incorporating your transliteration tool here (it's pretty neat).

Can you put up the source for this on Github or somewhere so I can help with building a Somali translator? Of the scripts I can read there, you've done a pretty good job and I'm interested in taking a peek at it as well.

Y.
