All the recent research shows that, the ratio of women to men is 3:1. That applies to Somali too. If all Somali men get married to one woman each, We would have 2/3 of somali women without husbands. What other option do you have for them other than Polygamy. becoming lesbians? marrying from Other Countries? practising absteinance?

Because islam allows it doesn`t mean it’s encouraged.
You cannot view this through rationalism because rationally it doesn`t make sense for 1 man to have 2 woman.

In islam its encouraged to have 2 woman in certain circumstances, like when a woman is without a man due to death of her husband or can`t find a man.
The psychology of this is like; run on the bank, we hardly run on the bank, even though the possibility is there, so woman outnumbering man and not finding a husband is unlikely, that’s why Polygamy is permissible rather than mandatory

given the ratio, men should have no problem getting multiple women....so really there's no need for this "debate"......don'tcha think?

And how many of those women are fertile or how many of them already hit menopause?

Women live longer than their husbands? Do you wish to marry those ones? Or are you think of the younger ones?

You could take a look at the world population pyramid and see the percentage of men and women in 2010 in each age group. The number are almost similar, and the only time women out number men are during the later ages.
