This Knicks Team has A LOT in common with the Mavs of '11 which beat the Heat. You have a bunch of vets who won't be scared of the moment, and know how to close games down the stretch

Murax,

I've been busy so not as much time to comment but to keep it short and succinct, we look like contenders. Kidd/Felton/Prigoni is clearly an upgrade over Lin. Thank God we have point guards who understand their role. The ball movement has been so much better, and we've gotten even better on the defensive end. All this and Marcus Camby/ Shump haven't even played yet. I'm nervous about what STAT will do to chemistry when he comes back. Right now I'm just loving how we look.

Also I can't believe people were trying to criticize our offseason pickups. Grunwald has been brilliant. We went from Jeffries, Jorts, Fields, Douglas, Lin to Thomas, Sheed, Kidd, Prigoni, Felton, Brewer, Camby. Depth is so much improved its unbelievable. So happy we've gotten rid of the bums on this squad.

Yea, while I was always the biggest optimist about Stat, I must admit I am worried and pessimistic. His defense will never be decent. Even when He tries to defend He can't as He's not diciplined, doesn't stay on His feet, commits overzealous fouls, pressures a non shooter who blows by Him on the dribble or just gets outmuscled underneath the basket for rebound putbacks. Stat should really look himself in the mirror now and reinvent His game. I'm not too worried about How it will be on offense anymore because We have brilliant point guards who can sort that part out.

Only undefeated team left in the NBA. 4-0. Both times we started seasons 4-0 we made the NBA Finals. :steviej:

Great start for the Knicks but this level of play is unsustainable...this is their ceiling, we'll have to see their floor before we know what this Knicks team really is.

My money is on Miami repeating...LeBron is playing pressure-free, D-Wade is healthy, Bosh is lighting it up to start the season, Ray Allen is vintage Ray Allen playing with a chip on his shoulder and Rashard Lewis looks like he can play his '09 ball again...add in a deep and battle-hardened bench, a slew of deadly 3-point shooters and everyone playing with that championship swagger, and I don't see anybody beating Miami 4 times in a series.

A team with size in the middle and the ability to match up 1-4 is the only way you have a chance with Miami and their small ball lineups

Honestly, it's looking like NYK might have a shot to match up cause NYK has plenty of perimeter defenders and Tyson Chandler in the middle.

 Just saying the level of play is unsustainable without presenting anything that supports this statement doesn't work.

What do You mean 'not' sustainable? As in winning every single game and going 82-0? Ofcourse its not! However the stuff they've exhibited is not a fluke and is sustainable. Carmelo Anthony playing D and rebounding is sustainable. Jason Kidd exhibiting smarts, late game execution is sustainable. Ronny Brewer crashing the boards, playing amazing D, getting steals is sustainable. Raymond Felton penetrating and finding shooters, cutters is sustainable. JR Smith providing long range shooting and breat 6th man shooting is sustainable.

About Miami they are the defending champs and ofcourse the Knicks will have a very hard time beating them. However keep in mind Miami always struggles against experienced, veteran, well executing teams who have bigs and who defend. Its no fluke the teams they had the toughest time against the past two years Mavs, Boston (7 games last year) are in that mold. Sports is unpredictable and there is not question that the Knicks present problems to Miami with their size underneath. Amare had 20 something and 10 on 1 hand last year, and in the game we played this year Tyson Chandler presented a lot of problems with His rebounding. The Knicks have 5 quality bigs they can bring to the court, and with Felton, Kidd, Prigioni, Shumpert, JR Smith We have great perimeter play to complement them. We're for real.

What I mean by unsustainable is they're playing close to perfect basketball especially the shooting from the outside...they're making 3's like layups and eventually the shots will stop falling at that clip. I'm also not sold on the idea that Melo will defend, rebound and make his teammates better like he's starting the season doing cuz that hasn't been who he is for his career. I also don't see JR Smith, who's never seen a shot he doesn't like, passing the rock like he's been doing lately. Any team can go on a 4-5 game winning streak where they look invincible...yours is just doing it to open the season. And don't forget old legs are always fresh at the beginning of the season but the gruelling effect of the 82 game grind and wear & tear will begin to show up as the season progresses. We'll know soon enough what we can expect from this Knicks team all year.

As for Miami, they have a hard time in the middle against skilled offensive big men...NYK has a whole host of over the hill big men who were good defenders in their prime but never really known for their offensive prowess. STAT is still young and can do dirt when healthy but he has a hard time staying that way, and Tyson Chandler is their other big who's still in his prime and is a great defender, but can only score off put-backs and alley-oops. NY's scoring will mostly have to come from the perimeter against Miami, and Miami happens to have one of the best perimeter defenses in the entire league. I think NY's ceiling is pushing Miami to 6-7 games in a playoff series and even that will take them playing like they're playing now.

Murax man talk is cheap. You have been saying the same thing in each of past two seasons and nothing to show for. The Knicks are decent at best, but in order to compete or challenge the Heat, they need to bring in more players in their prime. The Kid, wallace, and camby were all good in the late 90s and early 2000s. Not anymore.

Stacking up on best players in the league, they must win each year so long those players are together on the court and are healthy.
