Body or Mind?

Postby yungnfresh » Sun Oct 07, 2012 10:19 pm

A man commits a violent robbery and gets into a high-speed chase with the police while trying to escape. He ends up getting into an accident and is rushed to the hospital, where the doctors determine he's physically fine but permanently lost his memory and will never get it back.

Is he still the same person who committed the robbery if, for all intents and purposes, he has a "new mind"? What makes you YOU..your body or your mind? Should he be arrested for that crime, given his likelihood to reoffend is neutralized by the fact that he lost his criminal state of mind and he's naturally rehabilitated?

A person is the sum of their experiences, memories, and the life they have lived, so any alteration to those variables subsequently changes that given person. Or I could be wrong, I need shaah.

*Goes to get shaah*

His might have lost his memories, but reality hasn't. He committed a crime that involved other people and for that he should pay.

What determines you to be YOU is your soul. A person may loose their memory or sanity and/or a person may go under a physical change, but that doesn't change the fact that the SOUL never changes.

If I may add, the only change the SOUL goes thru is spiritual change.

No, he should be released. It could be a lie made up by the popo. What if I really didn't rob and go on a car chase? What if I was just walking down a street minding my own business and out of no where the police tranquilize me and then I end up in a hospital room where two police officers tell me I am under arrest for these crimes?

Absolutely not. I am not a Uncle Tom. I will not listen to the authorities when it comes to something I didn't do and they probably schemed.

Mind. The body is driven, the mind driver. If the driver is lost, no reason punishing the car.

I would have to say: Mind, it controls what the body does, the body is just there, even when you die, your body rots in the grave and it's your soul that gets punished, so that person shouldn't be punished.

It's funny how no one cares about mind stimulating topics.

But for the question, when you say they lost their mind, are they like mentally impaired now, or do they just not remember what they did?

And what happens to the SPIRIT? or do you want to infer that the Spirit and The SOUL are the same?

He had mens rea + actus reus at the time of the crime and that's all the court really cares for. Him getting into an accident and losing his memory only happens after the fact.

Sounds like a personal question! hmmmm have u been under the grip of a dark spirit lately?

As a friend who's been waging war on demons for many years, no one can answer this question with life experience better than urs truly
a person who lived the demonic lifestyle many years and finally sees the light of friendship cannot be charged for his yesteryear crimes
do not underestimate the power of second chance, for without it we would be forever doomed and our beautiful world would have succumb
to forces of evil long time ago.

do not judge a man cuz of his past because to do so would be tragically, demonic.
